Second Hand Husband Movie Exclusive Review

Released today, Second Hand Husband, marks the acting debut of Govinda’s daughter, Tina Ahuja and Punjabi actor Gippy Grewal. The movie which is directed by Sumeep Kang, also stars Dharmendra, Rati Agnihotri and Geeta Basra in pivotal roles. Let’s see how it is.
Story :
The story of the film revolves around the life of Rajbir (Gippy Grewal) who is deeply in love with his lawyer, Gurpreet (Tina Ahuja). The two are all set to get hitched but there is a twist in the tale. Rajbir’s ex-wife, Neha (Geeta Basra) gets Rajbir’s money as alimony every month and in order to avoid paying her, Gurpreet asks Rajbir to get Neha married to someone else.
This is when he meets Ajit (Dharmendra), a businessman who is caught cheating with his wife and is all set to get divorced now. Will Rajbir be able to convince Neha to marry Ajit? And how will all their lives suffer, forms the rest of the story…
Positive Points :
Due to lack of promotions and word of mouth publicity, not many people may have expected the flick to be a worthy watch. However to mine and everyone’s surprise, the movie managed to be a decent watch.
Speaking of performances, lets start with the legendary Dharmendra. The actor’s impeccable comic timing will leave you in splits. He is sure at his best. Gippy Garewal, who is known for his comedy stints in the North, was believable and convincing. Another actor who deserved an applause was Vijay Raaz. The actor can make even the most serious scenes funny. His expressions are amazing in every sense. Another high point of the film was cricketer Harbajan Singh’s cameo.
Negative points :
The only reason why the film was somewhat known to a few people, because it was been promoted as Govinda’s daughter Tina Ahuja’s debut film. However, her mention and presence was limited to the promos. The actress does not have much screen space. And for the time she appears on screen, all she does is overact.
Another actress Geeta Basra, looks bland and maintains a single expression throughout the film. The girls basically elevated the glamour quotient of the movie. The first half an hour of the film failed to make any sense what-so-ever. The characters could not be established and the sequences only confused the audiences.
Technical aspect:
Apart from a few performances, another good thing about the film was its music album. All the songs are placed rightly in the plot and suit situations. You may also keep humming them even after you leave he theatre. Sumeep’s direction was ok and you will just have leave all logic home to watch this flick. Most of the scenes do not make scene, which is fine if you looking for a stress buster that does not make you use your brains much. Editing of the film could have been better. Dialogues are fine, as a few one-liners sure make you laugh.
Verdict :
On the whole, Second Hand Husband can be watched if you are looking for some time pass this weekend, or else, if you are the intellect ones, this is just not your cup of it.

Aadi’s next nears completed

Young hero Aadi has been busy shooting nonstop for his upcoming film, Garam. The film has completed most of its talkie part and is nearing the completion. Garam is being directed by writer turned director Madan. The film has Adah Sharma playing the female lead.

Garam is an important film in Aadi’s career as all his recent films like Rough, Gaalipatam and Pyaar Mein Padipoyane ended up as average grossers. After the completion of Garam, Aadi will start shooting for director Veerabhadram’s Chuttalabbayi, which was announced last month. Raashi Khanna is expected to team up with Aadi for this film.

Superstar Kidnap Movie Update Review

Young actors Nandu, Adarsh Balakrishna, Bhupal and Vennela Kishore play important roles in this week’s crime comedy ‘Superstar Kidnap’. Directed by Sushanth Reddy and produced by Chandu, this movie has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.
Story:
Jai (Adarsh Balakrishna), Nandu ( Nandu) and Bhupal ( Bhupal) are three close friends who have different goals in life. One fine day, they get stuck in a serious problem and need huge money to come out of it. Left with no choice, they decide to kidnap superstar Mahesh Babu and demand money from his family.
Will the trio succeed in kidnapping the superstar ? What are the problems they face during this process ? That forms the rest of the story.
Plus Points :
The major attraction of this movie is its plot which revolves around the kidnap of superstar Mahesh Babu. The cameo performances by Manchu Manoj, Allari Naresh, Nani and Taneesh gives a good boost to the movie. The introduction scenes of all the lead characters have been showcased well.
Interval block is also carried out decently. All the young actors performed well and especially Nandu and Adarsh Balakrishna displayed superb emotions and did complete justice to their roles. Vennela Kishore did a decent job in his role and all his scenes in the second half will entertain the audience big time.
Minus Points :
The routine narration of the story is a big setback for this movie. These type of stories have already been used in numerous movies and the proceedings get predictable most of the times.
The pace of the film slows down during the second half, and the lengthy scenes are a big drawback. Certain comedy scenes are not executed well and all the songs are misplaced and hamper the flow of the movie.
Technical Aspects:
Cinematography by Eeswar is very nice and captures the grand visuals in a superb way. Music and background score by Sai Karthik are good. Editing by Madhu should have been better as many scenes looked lengthy.
Director Sushant Reddy showed his inexperience by narrating a regular story line. His direction is ok but he should have concentrated more on the script. The production values are ok and the makers have brought a decent movie within a limited budget.
Verdict:
On the whole, Superstar Kidnap has some interesting moments going its way. Decent performances by the lead cast and the intriguing set up are basic assets. The name of superstar Mahesh Babu will definitely attract his fans. However, the routine narration and some very predictable scenes hinder the smooth flow of the movie which ends up as just an ok watch.

Basthi Movie Review

Veteran actress Jayasudha’s son, Shreayan is making his Tollywood debut with Basthi. This film which also stars Pragathi as the female lead has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.
Story:-
The story of the film is quite simple and based between two rival groups of Ammiraju(Mukesh Rishi) and Bhikshapati (kota). Twist in the tale arises when Vijay(Shreayan) from Ammiraju’s group falls in love with Bikshapathi’s daughter Shravanthi (Pragathi).
This affair does not go well with Bikshapati’s son Bhavani (Abhimanyu Singh) who in turn takes things in hand and decides to kill the couple. Rest of the story is as to how this couple survives the deadly Bhavani and win their love.
Plus Points:-
Shreayan is ok for his first film but needs to work on his dialogue delivery and expressions. He has the height and personality and will surely get better with more experience. Pragathi is decent in her role and looks good in songs.
Interval bang is quite interesting and has been dealt nicely. Second half provides some laughs here and there. Mukesh Rishi and Abhimanyu Singh are apt in their roles and so was Kota.
First half has some decent gang rivalry which has been showcased well. Production values are decent as the makers have not compromised on the visuals.
Minus Points:-
Major drawback of the film is the age old story line. Scripts like these have been dealt many a times and have absolutely nothing new to offer. A lot of effort should have gone in to get the hero involved in the proceedings as he is just left as a spectator. Right from the scene one, this film gets quite predictable and has nothing much interesting.
Pace of the film gets slow towards the second half as some unnecessary commercial elements take centre stage. It is very hard to understand why Rashmi Gautam did the item song which also has another lead and looks vulgar. The comedy tracks featuring Ali and Sapatagiri are outright bad and have no meaning at all. Once the second half sets in, the movie looses its direction and goes wayward.
Technical Aspects:-
Camera work of the film is pretty ordinary and so is the art direction. Music is decent as some songs have been composed well. Screenplay is predictable in the first half and gets wayward during the second part. Editing is ok as the run time of the film is quite crisp. Coming to the director Vasu, he chooses an stale subject and completely fails to elevate the debutante in whatsoever way. He just runs through the proceedings and does a pretty below average job.
Verdict:-
On the whole, Basthi is a film which does not give much scope for the debutante Shreayan to showcase his complete potential. Except for an interesting interval bang and decent performances by the lead pair, this film is completely let down by some very amateurish direction and has absolutely nothing new to offer. You may skip it.
