Aadi’s next nears completed

Young hero Aadi has been busy shooting nonstop for his upcoming film, Garam. The film has completed most of its talkie part and is nearing the completion. Garam is being directed by writer turned director Madan. The film has Adah Sharma playing the female lead.

Garam is an important film in Aadi’s career as all his recent films like Rough, Gaalipatam and Pyaar Mein Padipoyane ended up as average grossers. After the completion of Garam, Aadi will start shooting for director Veerabhadram’s Chuttalabbayi, which was announced last month. Raashi Khanna is expected to team up with Aadi for this film.

Superstar Kidnap Movie Update Review

Young actors Nandu, Adarsh Balakrishna, Bhupal and Vennela Kishore play important roles in this week’s crime comedy ‘Superstar Kidnap’. Directed by Sushanth Reddy and produced by Chandu, this movie has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.
Story:
Jai (Adarsh Balakrishna), Nandu ( Nandu) and Bhupal ( Bhupal) are three close friends who have different goals in life. One fine day, they get stuck in a serious problem and need huge money to come out of it. Left with no choice, they decide to kidnap superstar Mahesh Babu and demand money from his family.
Will the trio succeed in kidnapping the superstar ? What are the problems they face during this process ? That forms the rest of the story.
Plus Points :
The major attraction of this movie is its plot which revolves around the kidnap of superstar Mahesh Babu. The cameo performances by Manchu Manoj, Allari Naresh, Nani and Taneesh gives a good boost to the movie. The introduction scenes of all the lead characters have been showcased well.
Interval block is also carried out decently. All the young actors performed well and especially Nandu and Adarsh Balakrishna displayed superb emotions and did complete justice to their roles. Vennela Kishore did a decent job in his role and all his scenes in the second half will entertain the audience big time.
Minus Points :
The routine narration of the story is a big setback for this movie. These type of stories have already been used in numerous movies and the proceedings get predictable most of the times.
The pace of the film slows down during the second half, and the lengthy scenes are a big drawback. Certain comedy scenes are not executed well and all the songs are misplaced and hamper the flow of the movie.
Technical Aspects:
Cinematography by Eeswar is very nice and captures the grand visuals in a superb way. Music and background score by Sai Karthik are good. Editing by Madhu should have been better as many scenes looked lengthy.
Director Sushant Reddy showed his inexperience by narrating a regular story line. His direction is ok but he should have concentrated more on the script. The production values are ok and the makers have brought a decent movie within a limited budget.
Verdict:
On the whole, Superstar Kidnap has some interesting moments going its way. Decent performances by the lead cast and the intriguing set up are basic assets. The name of superstar Mahesh Babu will definitely attract his fans. However, the routine narration and some very predictable scenes hinder the smooth flow of the movie which ends up as just an ok watch.

Basthi Movie Review

Veteran actress Jayasudha’s son, Shreayan is making his Tollywood debut with Basthi. This film which also stars Pragathi as the female lead has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.
Story:-
The story of the film is quite simple and based between two rival groups of Ammiraju(Mukesh Rishi) and Bhikshapati (kota). Twist in the tale arises when Vijay(Shreayan) from Ammiraju’s group falls in love with Bikshapathi’s daughter Shravanthi (Pragathi).
This affair does not go well with Bikshapati’s son Bhavani (Abhimanyu Singh) who in turn takes things in hand and decides to kill the couple. Rest of the story is as to how this couple survives the deadly Bhavani and win their love.
Plus Points:-
Shreayan is ok for his first film but needs to work on his dialogue delivery and expressions. He has the height and personality and will surely get better with more experience. Pragathi is decent in her role and looks good in songs.
Interval bang is quite interesting and has been dealt nicely. Second half provides some laughs here and there. Mukesh Rishi and Abhimanyu Singh are apt in their roles and so was Kota.
First half has some decent gang rivalry which has been showcased well. Production values are decent as the makers have not compromised on the visuals.
Minus Points:-
Major drawback of the film is the age old story line. Scripts like these have been dealt many a times and have absolutely nothing new to offer. A lot of effort should have gone in to get the hero involved in the proceedings as he is just left as a spectator. Right from the scene one, this film gets quite predictable and has nothing much interesting.
Pace of the film gets slow towards the second half as some unnecessary commercial elements take centre stage. It is very hard to understand why Rashmi Gautam did the item song which also has another lead and looks vulgar. The comedy tracks featuring Ali and Sapatagiri are outright bad and have no meaning at all. Once the second half sets in, the movie looses its direction and goes wayward.
Technical Aspects:-
Camera work of the film is pretty ordinary and so is the art direction. Music is decent as some songs have been composed well. Screenplay is predictable in the first half and gets wayward during the second part. Editing is ok as the run time of the film is quite crisp. Coming to the director Vasu, he chooses an stale subject and completely fails to elevate the debutante in whatsoever way. He just runs through the proceedings and does a pretty below average job.
Verdict:-
On the whole, Basthi is a film which does not give much scope for the debutante Shreayan to showcase his complete potential. Except for an interesting interval bang and decent performances by the lead pair, this film is completely let down by some very amateurish direction and has absolutely nothing new to offer. You may skip it.

Ok Bangaram Movie Review - Tuned Romantic Entertainer

Legendary film maker Mani Ratnam is back with yet another romantic entertainer Ok Bangaram. Starring Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen in lead roles, this film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.
Story:-
Aadi(Dulquer Salmaan) and Tara(Nithya Menon) are two young corporate employees who live in Mumbai. They lead a posh life style and are not interested in the concept of marriage. One fine day, they cross paths and get going instantly. Very soon, their friendship turns into a live in relation and the couple spend some happy times together.
Twist in the tale arises when the couple has to leave each other and go abroad for their future endeavors. What will they do now ? Will they end up sacrificing their careers ? Or will they go ahead with their broad minded thinking. That forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points:-
One of the basic assets of the film is the racy narration. Mani Ratnam once again proves what a genius he is. The way he showcases such a simple story in quite a breezy way is splendid. Nithya Menen is a power house of talent and is superb in her role. She looks gorgeous and brings in a whole lot of depth to the film. Prakash Raj is very good in a supporting role and brings a balance to the film.
Yet another asset of the film is the sizzling chemistry between Nithya and Dulquer. There is some magic between the couple which comes on screen and makes up for some beautiful moments. The entire film runs on their emotions and A R Rahman’s thumping background score only elevates the film to another level.
Coming to Dulquer, he is the heart and soul of the film. This young actor is a superstar in the making and does his role wonderfully. Dulquer’s looks and the way he showcases a carefree attitude in the film is awesome. Credit should also go to actor Nani for giving life into Dulquer’s character with his dubbing. Not even once does Nani make you feel that this is a dubbing film.
Minus Points:-
Story of the film is highly predictable and has been dealt many a times before. After a breezy first half, the second half becomes a bit slow. Climax of the film could have been elevated a bit more and is wrapped up in a hurry. Certain emotions of the older couple played by Prakash Raj and Leela Krishnan could have been conveyed more convincingly.
There is nothing much for the mass audience to look out for. All the basic commercial elements are missing in the film and only certain sections of audience will end up liking it.
Technical Aspects:-
A R Rahman’s music score is brilliant and is the backbone of the film. As said earlier, it is his background score which lifts the film to another level. Credit also should go to Mani Ratnam for showcasing Rahman’s songs such wonderfully. P C Sreeram’s visuals are top notch and showcase the film in a romantic light. The way he has showcased Mumbai is so beautiful.
Dialogues are simple and go with the mood of the film. Mani Ratnam is back in his elements with this film and nicely executes this love story. He deals with the current mindset of the youth and showcases their emotions well. The way he takes a simple story and sets it amidst the metropolitan city of Mumbai is wonderful. He cashes in on the chemistry of the lead pair and extracts a superb performance from them.
Verdict:-
With Ok Banagaram, Mani Ratnam makes a decent comeback. He gives the audience what is expected of him and narrates the film in a youthful way. Stunning chemistry between the lead pair and thumping music score are basic assets of the film. If you manage to ignore the routine story, Mani Ratnam’s racy narration will make you fall in love all over again.

Kai Raja Kai Movie Update Review

Director Maruthi has been associated with some interesting films in the past. After a brief gap, he is presenting the crime comedy Kai Raja Kai. Directed by Siva Ganesh, this film has hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.
Story :-
A dreaded gangster named Bhattu manages to rob a box of expensive gold biscuits. Twist in the tales arises when his assistants steal the box from him and place it in a car nearby a mechanic shop which is owned by Khanna(Ram Khanna).
On the other hand, Annad(Manas) and Josh Ravi(Chitti) are two unemployed youth who stay along with Khanna. Destiny strikes the gang as they come across the box and decide to sell it off and make money. Will they manage to accomplish the task ? How will they escape the evil Bhattu ? That forms the rest of the story.

Plus Points :-
Major plus point of the film is the comedy quotient. This film has enough adult comedy which will entertain the audience to an extent. Josh Ravi is the highlight of the film and does well in his comic role. All the scenes with his friends and gay comedy with Rocket Raghava in the second half is good.
Lead heroes Manas and Khanna suit their characters well. Talented actor Khanna, is very good as the guy who gets cheated and gives an emotional performance right throughout the film. He is the main stay of the film and generates superb chemistry with the other two friends. Heroines Shamili and Shravya look good and give decent support to the film.
Production values are good as the film has been showcased in a decent manner. Some situational comedy during the climax is good. Second half of the film gets interesting as a cat and mouse game becomes the main stay. The adult comedy which comes with Josh Ravi’s character will go down well with the masses.
Minus Points :-
The movie is 140 minutes long which is a bit lengthy for today’s standards. If the makers would have edited the film by at least fifteen minutes, the outcome would have been more effective. The villain’s role is a big let down in the film. There are many unnecessary scenes which showcase him and his evilness.
Like every other crime comedy, even this film becomes predictable after a point. You exactly know what is going to happen in the film. After an interesting half an hour in the first half, the film gets bogged down. The director uses up way too many scenes to showcase both the lead pair’s stories.
A romantic song breaks out of now where in the second half and spoils the flow of the film. Even though the climax of the film is ok, it has been dragged out unnecessarily.
Technical Aspects :-
Camerawork by Dev is pretty good and showcases the Hyderabad locales in a superb light. This young talent brings in a special weight to the film with his amazing visuals. Music by JB is pretty good especially the title song which has also been shot nicely. Dialogues are in typical Maruthi style and suit the mood of the film. Screenplay of the film is below par but is a lot better in the second half.
Director Shiva Ganesh does an ok job with this film. Even though he chooses a routine story, he balances it with the comedy quotient. The only place where he falters is with the usage of unwanted scenes throughout the film.
Verdict :-
On the whole, Kai Raja Kai has some decent fun elements. Excellent comedy by Josh Ravi and an interesting premise are basic assets of the film. If you ignore the excessive length and some unwanted scenes in the first half, you might end up liking this routine crime comedy.

Bandipotu Movie Review – Decent Entertainer

After the decent success of Brother of Bommali, Allari Naresh is back with yet another interesting project Bandipotu. Directed by Indraganti Mohan Krishna, this film has hit the screens today . Let’s see how it is.
Story:-
Vishwa (Allari Naresh) is a conman who keeps cheating rich people. One fine day, a girl named Jahnavi(Esha) meets Vishwa and hires him to con three ex best friends Makrandam(Tannikella Bharani) Seshagiri(Rao Ramesh) and Bale Babu(Posani).
Accepting her proposal, Vishwa manages to successfully con two of the three friends. Twist in the tale arises when Seshagiri and Makarandam come to know of this and plan a counter attack. Rest of the story is about how Vishwa manages to escape this counter attack and successfully cons the third friend Bale Babu.

Plus Points:-
With Bandipotu, you can see a new and rejuvenated Allari Naresh. Right from his looks to his performance, Naresh has done a decent job and proves that he can carry a film on his shoulders. All his confrontation scenes with Rao Ramesh have been executed well. Heroine Esha looks beautiful and has portrayed her character with a lot of confidence.
Major assets of the film are the performances of Tannikella Bharani and Rao Ramesh. Both these actors deliver a mature performance and give life to the film. Posani brings in a few laughs and is good in his role.
Chandra Mohan is apt in his character and so is Subhaleka Sudhakar. First half of the film is pretty decent and has some engaging moments. The way Naresh cons Bharani and Rao Ramesh has been executed quite well.
Minus Points:-
Major drawback of the film is lack of regular entertainment. Other than a few scenes in the first half, Bandipotu is little low on mass comedy. All those who expect good humor and fun from Naresh’s films will be a little disappointed with this flick.
Sampoornesh Babu is wasted in his role. Except for a brief scene in the first half, he is no where to be seen in the film. Bandipotu is a bit predictable and the twists and turns that are showcased are just about ok. Second half gets a bit serious and the proceedings take time to unfold.
Heroine Esha has absolutely nothing to do in the second half and is hardly there in the film.An item song breaks out of now where and spoils the flow of the film. Certain logics go missing and many scenes lack clarity.
Technical Aspects:-
Music by Kalyan Koduri is good and all the songs have been shot exceptionally well. Production values are pretty good as the makers have not compromised on the visuals. Screenplay of the film is crisp and all the scenes in the first half have been dealt interestingly.
Director Mohan Krishna presents Naresh in a new dimension and extracts decent performance from him. Dialogues are very good and suit the mood of the film. Camera work is pretty good and presents the film in a decent light.

 Verdict:-
On the whole, Bandipotu will be a new leaf in Allari Naresh’s career. With this film he proves that he can carry an author backed role with aplomb. Naresh’s performance and an interesting set up are basic assets. If you go in with an open mind and forget Naresh’s typical comedy image, you might end up liking this different attempt.

I Movie Review - I is surely Shankar’s weakest film

Shankar is one film maker in India whose films are eagerly awaited all over. His latest presentation is ‘I’ which has the National Award wining actor Vikram in a lead role. After all the hype and hysteria, this film has finally hit the screens today. Let’s see how it is.

Story:-
Lingesh(Vikram) is an upcoming body builder who is deeply and madly in love with an actress named Diya(Amy Jackson). One fine day, Diya approaches him to act in an Ad film with her. She gets him the necessary make over, and in the process of the shoot, the couple fall in love with each other.
Twist in the tale arises when Diya’s professional enemies run down a deadly virus into Lingesh’s body which turns his life upside down. Rest of the story is as to how an diseased Lingesh takes revenge on those who made his life an living hell.

Plus Points:-
Vikram is undoubtedly one of the biggest assets of the film. The efforts that he has put in for his role are clearly visible on screen. He is outstanding in his body builder’s character, and pushes the edge with his appearance and acting as the weird looking guy. The way he has showcased pain and grief even though he is covered up with heavy make up is wonderful.
Amy Jackson is apt in her role and looks gorgeous. Visuals in the film are top notch, and the credit should definitely go to Shankar for thinking something different and in a grand scale. All the songs have been shot well and production values are superb.
Make up done for Vikram is of international standard and elevates his character to another level. While the first half has decent entertainment, the second half is emotional. Upen Patel does well in his negative role, and so are Santhanam and Suresh Gopi.

Minus Points:-
Too much of hype and expectations spoil the outcome of this film a bit. Shankar has raised the bar so high with his previous films that sadly, I does not meet those expectations. No where in the film you get a feel that it is a Shankar film. He adds unnecessary elements and drags the film in many places.
Last fifteen minutes of the first half are below par, and the love story showcased during this part is boring. The movies moves back and forth in time, and the screenplay during this part takes a severe beating. May be for the first time in his career, Shankar has misplaced songs in the narrative.
Yet another major drawback is the excessive length of the film. A lot of scenes and fights could have easily been trimmed. Once the twist is revealed in the second half, the movie gets predictable.

Technical Aspects:-
‘I’ is a brilliant film technically. A R Rahman’s music is outstanding and so is the background score. As said earlier, the make up and prosthetics used for Vikram’s character are mind blowing. P C Sreeram’s camerawork is stunning and gives the film an international feel. All the episodes that are shot in China look beautiful.
The sets designed and scale of the movie is up to Shankar’s standard. Telugu dubbing is decent and so are the dialogues. Screenplay by Shanakar lacks focus in many areas as you do not get attached to film emotionally. The way Vikram’s character goes about taking revenge on the bad guys in the first half has been hurried up and is unclear.

Verdict:-
On the whole, I is surely Shankar’s weakest film till date. Excessive length and lack of emotional connect are basic drawbacks. But keeping the festival season in mind, and Shankar’s grand visuals added with Vikram’s mind blowing performance, this film can be given a shot. Only thing you need to do is go in without any expectations whatsoever.

Chandrakala Movie Review – Routine Thriller

Continuing with the trend of dubbing films, the latest venture to hit the screens today is Chandrakala. Starring Hansika, Andrea and Raai Laxmi, this film is directed by Sundar C. Let’s now see how it is.

Story:-

A combined family heads back to their native place to sell off their ancestral home. As soon as they land there, the ladies in the family, Maaya(Raai Laxmi) and Madhavi(Andrea) start witnessing weird things happening around them. As time passes by, an untoward incident happens and the entire family comes to know that the palace is possessed by an evil spirit(Hansika).
Who is this evil spirit ? What does it have to do with the palace ? How will the entire family solve their problems ? To know answers to these questions, you need to watch the film on big screen.

Plus Points:-

Major attraction of the film are the female leads. All of them have done a decent job with their performances. Hansika is the show stealer as she has a powerful role in the film. Her character has been conceived nicely, and she does perfect justice to her role. Andrea’s performance during the climax is quite impressive.
First half of the film and some episodes during the second half have decent thrills. Sundar C has done a decent job in his supporting role, and has managed to engage the audience with his direction.

Minus Points:-

Once the twist is revealed during the second half, the film gets predictable. Even though the climax of the film is ok, it has been dragged to excessive lengths. A song breaks out of no where and the climax gets some unwanted elements thrusted into it. Hansika’s character has very less screen time and could have been elevated more.
Songs in the movie could have been eliminated to make the film even more gripping. Yet another major drawback of the film is that it does not have any major spooky elements in the film. The beginning of the film is quite unclear and settles down only after fifteen minutes.

Technical Aspects:-

Camerawork of the film is just about ok. Special effects are decent and so are the production values. The palace and the entire set up has been canned quite decently. As said earlier, music of the film is below par and all the songs could been chopped off.
Screenplay of the film is decent till the climax but gets bogged down after that. Dialogues are just about ok and so is the editing. Sundar C is ok with his direction but goes haywire during the end.

Verdict:-

On the whole, Chandrakala has its highs and lows. An engaging premise and some decent performances are basic plus points. On the flip side, an dragged out climax and lack of enough spooky and thrilling moments spoil the flow of the film. Watch it only if you have nothing else to do.

Race Gurram Movie Review - Out and Our Entertainer.

Stylish Star Allu Arjun and gorgeous beauty Shruti Haasan have teamed up for the commercial entertainer, ‘Race Gurram’. The movie has released across the world today and Surender Reddy has directed it. The film has been produced by Nallamalupu Bujji. Let us check out the movie now.

Story :

Lucky (Allu Arjun) is a carefree guy who lives a relaxed life. His character is a complete contrast of his brother Ram (Shyam), who is a dedicated ACP. The two of them think very differently and they keep having petty quarrels.
Lucky comes across Spandana and it is love at first sight for the hero. He sets out to woo her and hangs out with his Babai (M.S. Narayana). This carefree life is disrupted when Ram decides to oppose a corrupt and evil politician named Siva Reddy (Ravi Kishan).
Siva Reddy does not hesitate to kill his opponents and Ram is on the hit list. This is accidentally discovered by Lucky and he decides to teach Siva Reddy a lesson. He warns the politician to stay away from his family.
An enraged Siva Reddy decides to take revenge on Lucky’s family and he uses all his powers to harass them. Lucky then decides to fight back in his own way, with the help of Govardhan (Posani Krishna Murali). He has Kill Bill Pandey (Brahmanandam) for company.
How Lucky manages to thwart Siva Reddy is what this story is all about.

Plus Points :

Allu Arjun is improving as an actor with every film and this film is an example. He has done a superb job in this movie and his performance is a big asset. Bunny’s comedy timing is spot on in the film. He has come up with some superb dance moves for the film.
Shruti Haasan does not have much to do but she has very good screen presence. Her glamorous avatar is a big attraction for the masses. Saloni is ok as Shyam’s romantic interest.
Brahmanandam has delivered another knock out performance as ‘Kill Bill Pandey’. He enters the film in the second half and manages to come up with a hilarious performance that will have good repeat value. Posani entertains in a nice role.
Ali and M.S. Narayan have performed well. Shyam is good as the honest ACP. Ravi Kishan makes a good impression as the villainous MLA. Emotional scenes in the movie, especially the scenes where brotherly love is highlighted, have come out well.
There are a few good twists and unexpected sequences in the film and they are nice.

Minus Points :

The story is quite boring. There is some similarity to ‘Lakshyam’. The movie also gets predictable at times.
The movie is a little big too long and it should have been trimmed by about 20 minutes atleast. Most of this trimming should have been in the first half.
Though songs are good, none of them have a good lead. As a result, promising songs like ‘Down Down Duppa’ are wasted. They simply hamper the flow of the story.

Technical Aspects :

Cinematography is good and visuals look bright and colourful. Editor has done a very average job and he should have been more effective in the first half. Dialogues are pretty good. Thaman lifts the film with some solid back ground music in the second half.
Surender Reddy’s direction is ok. He has played a safe game this time, rather than trying out something radically new.

Verdict :

‘Race Gurram’ is a paisa vasool entertainer that makes you feel good when you walk out of the theatre. Brahmanandam, Ali, Posani and M.S.Narayana will make sure that you have a good time. Allu Arjun has improved tremendously as an actor and this movie is going to be one of his best commercial hits.

Legend Telugu Movie Review

                       Legend Telugu Movie Review

Natasimham Nandamuri Balakrishna’s ‘Legend’ has hit the screens worldwide with a phenomenal buzz. Balakrishna is having high hopes on this Boyapati Sreenu film, so let us check out if the film can live up to the expectations.

Story:

Krishna (Balakrishna) is a guy who fights against injustice anywhere in the world. He is an NRI who is deeply attached to his family members. Krishna is deeply in love with Sneha (Sonal Chauhan) and he seeks his grandmother’s blessings for the wedding.
His grandmother is a very strict lady who does not want him to come to India. But Krishna decides to surprise her by paying her a visit with Sneha. With his penchant for saving people in trouble, Krishna soon ends up as the enemy of the powerful Jeethendra (Jagapathi Babu).
The movie enters into flashback mode when Jeethendra sees Krishna. There is an old rivalry involving Krishna’s family and Jai Dev( elder Balakrishna) enters the scene.
The rest of the story is all about Jai Dev’s fight against Jeethendra.

Plus Points :

Balakrishna is simply superb in the role of Jai Dev. He has a royal look and his mannerisms are great to watch. He has also danced energetically in the movie.
Jagapathi Babu is excellent as Jeethendra and he has great future as a leading villain. His natural talent makes him a force to recon with in the negative role.
Sonal Chauhan oozes glamour and she looks gorgeous. Radhika Apte looks homely and she has a good role in the movie.
The second half of the film is a big plus point, with emotionally charged scenes and powerful action episodes. The fight sequence near train track is excellent.
Interval episode and twist have good impact value.

Minus Points :

Brahmanandam’s comedy element is silly and he irritates as Manikyam.
The first half is slightly slow with too many songs. The item song ‘Lasku Tapa’ is not effective.
Climax could have been more convincing.

Technical Aspects :

Cinematography is very average. Editing is very bad, especially in the first half where there are so many jump cuts. Devi Sri Prasad is a big plus for the film.
Boyapati Sreenu has played a safe game as a director. He has given powerful punch dialogues and a rich look to Balakrishna but he has used a very old storyline.

Verdict:

‘Legend’ has some explosive moments in the second half and powerful punch dialogues from Balakrishna. The film is a solid commercial entertainer that can do great business at the Box Office

Atharintiki Daaredhi Movie Review

Power Star Pawan Kalyan and Samantha have teamed up for the film ‘Atharintiki Daaredhi’. The movie has been directed by Trivikram Srinivas and BVSN Prasad is the producer. AD has released across the world today, so let us check it out.
Story :
Goutham Nanda (Pawan Kalyan) is the grandson of a very rich business magnate based in Milan, Raghuram Nanda (Boman Irani). Raghuram has everything in life, but he is not happy. At 78 years of age, all he wants is reconciliation with his estranged daughter Sunanda (Nadhiya). Despite repeated attempts, Sunanda refuses to meet her dad.
Goutham now heads to India to try and convince his Atthayya Sunanda to come back. Sunanda is a headstrong but kind lady and Goutham must do all that he can to convince her. He joins her household as a car driver and tries to win her affection.
Sunanda has two daughters, Sashi (Samantha) and Prameela (Praneetha). What does Goutham do? Whom does he end up with? Can he win the affection of his Atthayya? That forms the story of this ‘Atharintiki Daaredhi’.

Plus Points :
Pawan Kalyan is simply outstanding in AD. He is stylish and he has good energy levels in this movie. But more than all that, Pawan Kalyan’s emotionally charged performance in the climax sequence is something that will have a very strong impact. Pawan carries the simple and linear story line on his shoulders and takes the film to another level.
Samantha is very cute in the movie and she looks gorgeous as always. She has a limited role in the first half, but gets prominent placement in the second part. Her scenes with Pawan Kalyan are adorable.
Praneetha looks good, especially in the Bapu Gari Bomma song. Nadhiya has given a classy performance. Boman Irani and Ali are neat. Raghubabu and M.S.Narayana are ok.
Brahmanandam steals the show in the second half with the Ahalya drama episode. Comedy quotient in the movie is very good, especially in the second half. Trivikram’s dialogues work well.
The interval sequence and climax episodes are really nice. Trivikram has succeeded in maintaining good tempo throughout the film. He has also presented Pawan Kalyan in a way that fans will love.
Minus Points :
The VFX scenes are not up to the mark and they could have been avoided altogether, especially in the fight where the jeeps dive into the river.
Technical Aspects :
Cinematography is a big asset for the film. Pravin Pudi’s editing is good. DSP’s music and background score are big assets for the film.
Trivikram needs to be applauded for handling Pawan Kalyan’s stardom in the right manner. He has penned some really nice dialogues and his direction is also good.
Verdict :
‘Atharintiki Daaredhi’ is a clean and hilarious family entertainer. You will see a new and energetic Pawan Kalyan in the movie. Samantha’s glamour, Trivikram’s humour and DSP’s music are all bonus points. Go watch the film this weekend with your family. It is worth it.

Potugadu Movie Review - Nauty Entertainer

Manchu Manoj, who is known for trying out something new with every film, is testing his luck with the film ‘Potugadu’. The movie is a remake of the Kannada hit ‘Govindaya Namaha’ and Pawan Wadeyar is the director. The movie has four heroines and Achu has composed the music. Let us see if Manoj can entertain with ‘Potugadu’.
Story :
Govindu (Manoj) is a young fellow who decides to commit suicide. He goes to a lonely spot and decides to have one last drink. At about the same time, Venkata Rathnam (Posani Krishna Murali) also comes to the same spot to commit suicide. The two of them sit down for a chat to find out more about their respective life stories.
Govindu has four love stories to narrate. First up is his romantic track with Vaidehi (Simran Kaur), the daughter of a rich Brahmin guy. After a brief courtship, the love story fails because Vaidehi’s father is against the alliance. Govindu moves on in life and this is where the second love story begins. He falls in love with Mumtaz (Sakshi Choudhary) and romance blossoms between them. But Govindu throws away everything in a drunken stupor, where he makes some derogatory comments about Mumtaz.
Next up is a love story with a foreign lady named Stacy (Rachel). As expected, this story also fails. The last and final love story belongs to Govindu and Mary (Anupriya). For the first time in his life, Govindu experiences true love. He fully reforms himself and leads a normal life. But fate has other ideas. A shocking truth about Mary is revealed and Govindu is heartbroken.
This is what compels him to attempt suicide. Venkat Rathnam is moved by Govindu’s story. But this is not the end. The story comes full circle when something unexpected happens towards the closing stages.
What is that? Will Govindu find true love? That forms the story of ‘Potugadu’.
Plus Points :
Manoj’s mannerisms and dialogue delivery will entertain viewers. He has imitated Mohan Babu’s diction in a few scenes. Manoj is known for coming up with good fight sequences and he has done a very good job in this movie as well.
Posani Krishna Murali is a big asset for this movie. His expressions and reactions are hilarious. The comedy scenes between Manoj and Posani have come out well. Ali and Raghu Babu are ok. Sakshi Choudhary is very good looking and she has given a decent performance. Anupriya is ok.
The first half is a big asset for the movie. The pace is excellent and the dialogues are witty. B and C center folks will enjoy the ‘double meanings’. All the songs have been shot very well. But ‘Devatha’ and ‘Pyar Mein Padipoya’ stand out for their brilliant music.
The interval block and the twist in Anupriya’s love story are nice. The short run time is also an asset.
Minus Points :
Simran does not know how to act. Her performance is very bad. Rachel irritates in the role of Stacy. Filmmakers should stop trying to create the effect of foreigners speaking in Telugu. The third love story involving Stacy has been handled in a very poor way. It is loud, cliched and badly written.
Because all four love stories are very short, you never really get enough time to connect emotionally to the proceedings.
After a brilliant first half, the pace of the film dips considerably in the second half. If not for Posani and the songs, the second half would have become quite tedious.
The climax episodes are not up to the mark. While the twist is good, the way the story is wrapped up is a little superficial.
Technical Aspects :
Cinematography is a big asset for this movie. Editing is pretty good. It is quite tough to seamlessly edit a film which is nothing more than the sum of four short stories. But the editor has managed to do a neat job. Achu’s music and background score are big assets for the film. Sreedhar Sipana’s dialogues have good entertainment value.
Pawan Wadeyar makes a decent impression as a director. He has promise.
Verdict :
‘Potugadu’ has a very entertaining and racy first half. But it is let down by a loud and cliched second half. You can safely watch the film once, for the crackling performances from Manoj and Posani as well as for some great songs.

Kiss Telugu Movie Review - Nice not Spicy

Adivi Sesh and Priya Bannerjee have teamed up for the movie ‘Kiss’. The film has been directed by Sesh himself and Adivi Sai Kiran is the producer. Sricharan Pakala has composed the music. The film is supposed to be a romantic entertainer and it has released today in Andhra Pradesh. Let us see if Kiss is worth a watch.
Story :

Priya (Priya Bannerjee) is a Telugu girl who lives in San Francisco. Her father is a strict and conservative man and he imposes a lot of restrictions on Priya. Despite being unhappy with this, Priya never raises her voice and leads a life of compromise. But when her dad decides to get her married to a brash and headstrong guy called Ravi (Bharat Reddy), Priya is forced to take a desperate step.
She runs out off from home and decides to commit suicide. But she is rescued by a young fellow named Sunny (Adivi Sesh). Sunny is a jovial young fellow who is about to head back to Hyderabad after failing to make a mark in USA.
He convinces Priya to enjoy life and the two of them set out to explore the city of San Francisco, to chill out. Meanwhile, Priya’s parents and fiancee freak out and a search starts to trace the missing girl.
As the two of them go around the city, they start liking each other and romance blossoms. What will Priya do? Will she succeed in going against her father’s wishes? Will she marry Sunny? That forms the story of the film.
Plus Points :
Priya Bannerjee makes a good impression. If she can work on her expressions a little, she will be a promising actress. Adivi Sesh looks smart in a few scenes. Shafi is ok.
There are one or two good romantic moments in the film, where Priya Bannerjee’s bubbly energy livens up the proceedings. The city of San Francisco has been showcased quite beautifully in the film.
Minus Points :
The pace of narration is very slow. This is especially evident in the second half, where things seem to drag on and on and on and… well, on. The editor should have trimmed off a number of scenes in the last 20 minutes. There is no freshness in the plot or in the treatment.
Bad screenplay and some very poor performances make matters worse. The lady who has appeared as Priya’s mom in the film gets on your nerves with over the top histrionics. The guy who comes in as Priya’s Mavayya has no clue about what is going on around him.
The guy who tries to imitate Mahesh Babu’s mannerisms and dialogues is downright irritating. Bharat Reddy has been wasted in a poorly written role.
The film has a very amateurish feel. For romantic comedies to work, sizzling chemistry and witty writing are an absolute must. Sadly, both of them are missing in this movie. Entertainment quotient in the film is near zero.
Technical Aspects :
Cinematography is pretty good for a film of this budget. As I said before, San Francisco has been showcased quite beautifully. Background score is decent, but at times it is out of sync with the dominant emotion of the scene. Editing is bad.
Adivi Sesh is a decent actor, but he fails to make an impression as a director. His handling of the film can only be called amateurish.
Verdict :
Kiss is a romantic comedy that is slow and stale. Bad performances and poor screenplay never let the film take off. Priya Bannerjee’s beauty and good Cinematography are the only positive aspects of this movie. Except for multiplex crowds who are desperate to watch a movie, this film might not find any takers.

1000 Abaddalu Movie Review - Naga Babu Mark Movie

Director Teja has given some blockbuster hits in the past, but off late his films have not clicked at the box office. He is now back with his upcoming film ’1000 Abaddalu’. Starring Sai Ram Shankar and Ester in lead roles, the movie also has Naga Babu in an out and out comedy role. 1000 Abaddalu has released today in Andhra Pradesh
Story:-

Satya(Sai Ram Shankar) is the owner of an advertising company. He happens to fall in love with Satya (Esther), who shares his name. But he comes to know that she is already engaged. Following his heart, he plans to woo her with the help of his friends. He cooks up a lot of lies and finally ends up marrying her.
Just when everything seems to be going fine, the wife realises that she has been duped with a lot of lies. The couple go through major problems and get separated.
Will Satya cook some more lies to bring his wife back ?Or will he win her heart with his true love. That forms the story.
Plus Points:-
Naga Babu is the biggest asset of the film. He plays the role of Tower Star, a lover boy who is madly in love with Esther. Though he does not have a major role, he manages to entertain whenever he appears on the screen. His comedy timing is awesome and Teja has exploited it to the best.
Sai Ram Shankar has done a decent job. Comedy is good in places, especially in the second half. Some scenes, where Sai Ram Shankar woos the heroine with lies, have been executed nicely.
Minus Points:-
Except for some comedy bits, the rest of the film is quite stale and routine. The climax block seems very slow, with unnecessary scenes. Some of the scenes can be edited out, to reduce the run time.
Logic is missing, especially in the second half. Two songs in the second half are badly placed and spoil the flow of the film. The family drama scenes do not appear natural.
The heroine’s characterization is not up to the mark. Esther needs to work on her acting skills. She could not carry the role convincingly.
Technical Aspects:
Teja always manages to extract decent music from his music directors. Even in 1000 Abaddalu, the music is quite OK. Two songs in the first half are good. Camera work is nice, especially in all the song sequences.
Dialogues written for Naga Babu are hilarious. Teja’s direction is mediocre in this film.

Verdict:-
Though Teja always says that he wants to make ‘different’ films, he ends up making routine flicks. 1000 Abaddalu can be watched only for Naga Babu. Otherwise, there is nothing much for the viewer in this film.

Adda Movie Review - Not Bad One Time Watch

Sushanth is testing his fortunes at the Box Office with the film ‘Adda’. The movie has been directed by G.Karthik Reddy and Shanvi is the heroine. Chintalapudi Srinivas and Akkineni Nagasuseela produced this film. The movie is crucial for Sushanth, as he has not had a big success in his career so far. Let us see if he has a chance with this movie.
Story :
Abhi (Sushanth) is a person who specializes in providing services for lovers as well as their parents. He has a special ability when it comes to creating rifts between lovers and his services are used by parents who are worried about the love lives of their kids. But when he wants to, he also helps lovers and gets them married. He charges a handsome fee for all this.
Priya (Shanvi) seeks the services of Abhi in order to disrupt her sister’s love life. She is worried about her father Patel (Nagineedu) and that is why she takes this step. Abhi helps Shanvi, but in the process, discovers that he has feelings for Priya.
But Priya is unable to reciprocate, as she feels Abhi is a guy without feelings and morals. She is also supposed to marry her bava (Dev Gill).
What happens in the end? Will Abhi succeed in winning Priya’s heart? That forms the story
Plus Points :
Sushant has improved a lot as an actor. He has good grace as a dancer. His costumes are quite stylish in the film. Shanvi looks very glamorous in the movie and she is a big asset for the film. Her costumes and skin show in songs will work in B and C centers.
Raghubabu entertains briefly. Jayaprakash Reddy makes a cameo appearance, but he manages to make people laugh with his typical slang and dialogue delivery. Dhanraj, Venu and Thagubothu Ramesh are ok.
There are some entertaining moments in the film, especially in the first 30 minutes or so after the interval. Some nice one liners will also work with youngsters and college students.
Some songs, like the one in the pub, have been shot well. A few songs have been shot in exotic foreign locales and they look quite grand on screen.
Shwetha Bharadwaj sizzles in her item number.
Minus Points :
The pre-climax episode and the climax sequences are irritating. They seem to go on and on forever. Because there is no depth in the plot, some of the scenes appear quite stale and cliched.
The director should have taken better care about the screenplay. The graph of the film keeps dipping at many places. The characterization of the hero should have been more comprehensive. The romantic track lacks chemistry.
Some good artists like Kota Srinivasa Rao, Tanikella Bharani and Nagineedu have been given very insignificant roles.
Technical Aspects :
Cinematographer Arun Kumar deserves special mention for his work. Visuals are rich and quite grand for a film of this budget. Anoop Rubens has come up with very good background music and his work is a big asset for the film. Editing is not up to the mark, especially in the second half.
Director Karthik Reddy has done a very ok job with this film. Better screenplay would have significantly helped the movie.
Verdict :
Compared to some of Sushant’s past films, ‘Adda’ is definitely a big improvement. The film has some nice moments but it is let down by a bad climax and slow pace towards the end. Overall, Adda ends up as an ok watch.
