1234 (Andaru Engineerle) Movie Review

Priya Anand, who made her foray into Telugu films with Leader, is balancing her act by doing Hindi and Tamil films simultaneously. Her latest film in Tamil, Pugaipadam has now been dubbed as 1234- Andaru
Engineer le. Presented by R Satya Narayana, this film has managed a minor release today. Let’s see how it is.
Story :
The story is about a group of 7 engineering students based in Kodaikanal. All the friends spend their college days very happily, and among their very own batch are Paini Geaorge(Priya Anand) and Krishna(Ahmed) who are secretly in love.
As the college is about to get over the couple decide to reveal their affair to the rest of their group. During this time a serious tragedy strikes to one of their friends. Because of this unexpected incident, the group decides to split among themselves.
What is the tragedy? Why does the group decide to split ? and what happens to Paini and Krishna’s love story? That forms the rest of the story.
Plus Points :
Priya Anand does a decent job in the film. Her costumes, make up and her look is very natural. The other supporting cast have also done a decent job. Comedy scenes based in the college backdrop are also good. Some scenes where students imitate the teachers are nicely shot.
Minus Points :
This movie is the exact replica of Happy days but is no where in those standards. Pace of the movie is very slow and takes for ever to finish. The climax is also hard to digest and will not go well with Telugu audience. Director Lingam completely fails to handle this young subject and falters in many areas.
The movie has lot of loopholes and many scenes are incomplete. Scenes are very confusing and the order in which they have been placed goes haywire.
Technical Aspects :
Screenplay of the movie is very bad and the presentation goes for a toss. Editing of the movie is horrible. Though the movie is based in the beautiful locales of Kodaikanal, one would expect some beautiful scenery but even that has not been captured well by the camera department. Dialogues and dubbing work is not up to the mark. Only saving grace is its background score.
Verdict :
On the whole 1234-(Andaru Engineer le) is one film which is a total disappointment. Slow pace and some horrible scenes go against the film completely. Rather than watching this film, get yourself a DVD of Shekhar Kammula’s Happy Days and save yourself from this dubbing torture.

Movie Rating.......1/5
