Anna Movie Review

Tamil Star Vijay has teamed up with director A.L.Vijay for the film ‘Anna’ .The story of the film is expected to be along the lines of Kamal Haasan’s ‘Nayakudu’. But can the film live up to the promise? Amala Paul is the heroine and Kasi Viswanadham is the producer. Let us see how the movie is.
Story :

Vishwa (Vijay) is an aspiring dancer based in Australia. He runs a mineral water plant and earns well. But his real passion is dance and he works hard to succeed in that area. One day, he comes across Meera (Amala Paul) and falls for her charms. He also manages to impress Meera’s father (Suresh).
Suresh insists upon meeting Vishwa’s father and so they travel to the city of Mumbai. Vijay thinks his father is a simple businessman. But he realises that his dad is a local strongman revered by thousands of poor people. He realises that he is the son of Anna (Sathyaraj).
Vijay’s world is shattered. Fate conspires against him and he loses everything that is dear to him. In these circumstances,  will he stand up for the people who are dependent on his family? Will he take up the mantle of Anna? That is what ‘Anna’ is all about.
Plus Points :
Vijay has given a decent performance as Vishwa. Amala Paul has a key role in the film and she looks pretty. Sathyaraj has very good screen presence and he has done justice to the role of Anna. In fact, Sathyaraj’s scenes are easily the best sequences in the film. Veteran actor Suresh has performed well.
The interval twist is good and the film gains momentum here. Santhanam brings much needed comic relief and his one liners work most of the time. He has some nice lines, like “Orey, vere vaadi auto ki nuvvu ayudha pooja cheyali anukovatam thappu ra”.
Minus Points :
The basic story line is similar to Kamal Haasan and Mani Ratnam’s ‘Nayakudu’. Except for the interval twist, the story proceeds along expected lines.
The treatment of the hero’s character could have been a lot better. Vijay never really rises from Vishwa to Anna in the film. The aspect of ‘hero elevation’ is sorely missing and the director wasted many chances where this could have easily been achieved. For stories of this kind to work, viewers have to be drawn in emotionally. A.L.Vijay’s narration does not achieve this objective.
Except for Santhanam’s one liners, the entertainment quotient in the film is zero. The film’s run time, which is in excess of 3 hours, is a major minus point. The patience of viewers will get tested at times, especially in the second half.
There are a lot of loopholes in the plot. It is not possible to elaborate on this point anymore, as this would reveal the twists in the story. Songs are a major minus point for the movie. None of them manage to create an impact.
Technical Aspects :
Nirav Shah’s cinematography is decent. Editing is bad. A lot of scenes in the second half could have been trimmed. Background score by G.V.Prakash is not up to the mark. Dialogues are just about ok.
A.L.Vijay is a mismatch for this subject. A director with a good ‘mass pulse’ would have done justice for this movie.
Verdict :
‘Anna’ is a disappointment. In fact, it is a wasted opportunity. With that kind of a story line, the film should have ended up as a solid commercial drama. But all it manages to do is drag on and on. The Box Office prospects for this film look quite bleak in Andhra Pradesh.

Pusthakam lo Konni Pagelu Missing Movie Review

Sajid Khureshi has directed the film ‘Pustakam Lo Konni Pagelu Missing’. The film is a remake of the Tamil hit ‘Nadavula Konjem Pakkath Kanum’ and Sohail Ansari has produced the Telugu version. The movie has released here today. Sri and Supraja are the main leads in this film and Gunwanth scored the music. Let us check out the film now.
Story :
Vijay Kumar (Sri), Siva, Saleem and Balaji are good friends. Vijay happens to meet Sandhya (Supraja) and he falls in love with her. After a brief resistance, the parents of Vijay and Sandhya accept their love and agree to get them married.
Just a day before the wedding, Vijay gets injured while playing cricket. He takes a blow on his head and ends up with temporary memory loss. He loses all memory of events that happened in the last one year.
As the wedding hour approaches, Vijay’s friends do everything and anything possible to bring back his memory. Will they succeed?
Will Vijay marry the girl he loves? That is the story of ‘Pusthakam lo Konni Pagelu Missing’.
Plus Points :
The film’s story line and treatment are big assets. Sri is ok in the role of a person who experiences temporary memory loss. Though Supraja has a small role in the film, she has done a good job. Hyderabadi actor Masth Ali manages to entertain with his funny Telugu.
Raghu Babu is funny in the role of a doctor. The cricket match episode in the first half and a few songs are entertaining.
The reception scenes in the second half of the film are funny.
Minus Points :
After a while, some scenes become very boring. Sri needs to work on his comedy timing and expressions.
The film’s appeal will be limited to a niche segment. Commercial elements that can entertain crowds in B and C centers are missing.
The romantic track between the hero and heroine should have been better. There is no chemistry between the pair. Some of the dialogues keep getting repeated throughout the film and they sound monotonous after a while.
This kind of a story is better suited for Tamil viewers. Telugu viewers may not appreciate this kind of a niche film.
Technical Aspects :
Martin Joe’s cinematography is good. Gunwanth’s background score is good and his work helps the film significantly. The editors should have chopped off certain sections in the second half to speed up things.
Sajid Khureshi has made some changes to the original script in order to adapt it for Telugu. He has succeeded in some areas.
Verdict :
‘Pusthakam lo Konni Pagelu Missing’ falls just short. Its appeal at the Box Office will be quite limited. It might cater to people who like to watch unconventional films. Some boring moments and the absence of strong performers in the cast work against the film.

Abbai Class Ammai Mass Movie Review

Varun Sandesh has been going through a very lean patch for the past two years. He is testing his luck with yet another flick, Abbai Class Ammai Mass. Starring Hari Priya, Srinvas Reddy and Kasi Vishwanath , this film has hit the screens today. Lets see how it is.
Story:-

Sri(Varun Sandeh) is brought up by his grandmother (Sri Lakshmi) after the death of his parents. Sri’s grandmother is very protective and she keeps him away from beautiful girls. As a result, Sri is very uncomfortable near women. One fine day, a young and rich girl named Anjali comes up to Sri and proposes to him. Sri blindly refuses.
At about the same time, Sri’s company lands itself in a big financial mess. Taking advantage of this situation, Anjali’s father KK(Ahuti Prasad) offers to rescue Sri’s company if he agrees to marry Anjali. With no other option in hand, Sri agrees to the proposal.
As the marriage date draws near, Sri decides to shake off his inhibitions about women. He meets a prostitute called Neeru (Haripriya) and makes a deal with her. He brings her home in order to spend time with her. Once Neeru enters Sri’s life, things change considerably. We also see the appearance of Das (Kasi Vishwanadh) as a guy who keeps trying to kill Neeru.
Why is Das after Neeru? How is Sri’s life affected? Whom will Sri marry? That forms the story of this film.

Plus Points:-
Haripriya is a major asset for the movie. She looks quite convincing in the role of a prostitute. She oozes glamour and her ample skin show will work with the masses. Her performance in the emotional climax block is good. Varun Sandesh is just about ok.
Srinivas Reddy brings in a few laughs as Rushi Kesu. ‘Manasulona’ song, which was shot in Goa, has been captured quite well. Kausha’s item song will please the front benches.
Minus Points:-
This film is loosely based on the Hollywood flick ‘Pretty Woman’, but the director failed to adapt it convincingly. Kasi Vishwanath’s track is directly copied from Hindi film ‘Kahaani’. Major portions of the film have been inspired from quite a few Telugu movies.
Pace of the movie is quite slow and takes for ever to finish. Lot of scenes in the movie have no logic. A different voice has been used in some scenes to dub for Varun Sandesh’s character, which is quite irritating.
Comedians like Ali, Dhanraj and Vennela kishore have been wasted in the film.
Climax is abrupt and causes dissatisfaction among the viewers.
Technical Aspects:-
Camera work in the film is pretty good as all the songs have been shot well. Shekhar Chandra’s music is good and so is his background score. Editing is quite poor as man scenes could have been easily chopped off.
Koneti Sreenu’s direction is very ordinary. He could not mould the story in a convincing way. Production values are decent for a film of this budget.
Verdict:-
Haripriya’s glamour and skin show might work to a certain extent with the masses. A weak story, weak screenplay and poor direction go against the film completely. On the whole, ‘Abbai Class Ammai Mass’ ends up as a damp squib.

Sahasam Movie Update Review

Gopichand and Chandrasekhar Yeleti have teamed up for the adventure flick ‘Sahasam’. The movie is gearing up for a big release tomorrow. We have been to an exclusive premiere at Prasad Labs and we are now bringing you the first review of the film. How good is ‘Sahasam’ ? Read on to find out.

Story :
Goutham (Gopichand) works as a guard in a private security agency. His ambition in life is to become very rich, very fast.Goutham keeps buying lottery tickets and consults babas in order to achieve his goals. He keeps getting disappointed with the results and curses his luck. But fate has other ideas for him.
Goutham realises that his grandfather Varma (Suman) is a very wealthy man. Varma used to run a prosperous diamond trading business in Peshawar, before the partition. Goutham comes across a will that describes the riches left by Varma for his successors. Unfortunately, the riches are in Pakistan and they are tied to the legendary Hinglaj Devi temple.
Armed with his grandfather’s will and artefacts, Goutham sets out to Pakistan in order to claim his riches. He seeks the help of Sreenidhi (Tapsee), who is an advocate of Hindu religion and its greatness. But Goutham’s journey is not easy. He realises that some dreaded Pakistani terrorists, headed by Sultan (Shakti Kapoor), are after the same property. The stakes are much bigger and the treasure hunt now involves as fabulous horde belonging to the Kanishka empire.
Will Goutham succeed in claiming the riches that belong to him? That forms the rest of the story.
Plus Points :
Gopichand excels in the role of Goutham. He is very good in the action sequences and his body language is perfect for that role. Tapsee is quite good in this film as a devout and slightly naive young woman. Ali entertains to a certain extent as Khayamat Raju.
Shakti Kapoor is simply brilliant as the evil terrorist Sultan. His transformation and performance are very authentic. Narayana Murthy is ok as Gopichand’s father. Suman has a brief role and he has done a good job.
The film’s theme and story are quite novel for Telugu cinema. Chandrasekhar Yeleti must be commended for handling the project in a very competent way. The visuals are very grand and Ladakh has been captured quite majestically. Pakistani ambience has been recreated quite successfully and authentically.
The treasure hunt, the intricate clues that lead to it and the special effects are quite thrilling. Fans of films like National Treasure, Tomb Raider and Indiana Jones will enjoy this movie.
The film’s action sequences deserve special mention. They have been choreographed quite realistically. The gun fights and the car chases are good. The interval and climax episodes have been conceived quite nicely.
Minus Points :
Some cinematic liberties have been taken. For example, a Hyderabadi security guard manages to sneak into the residence of a dreaded Pakistani terrorist with absolute ease and impunity. The emotional intensity in the film keeps dipping at times.
Ali’s comedy track should have been more substantial. Masses in B and C centers might find it tough to connect with the film as commercial elements like comedy and glamour are missing from the film.
The much hyped Buzkashi episode is not as great as one would expect.
Technical Aspects :
Shyam Dutt’s cinematography is a major asset for the movie. His work has given the film a very sophisticated feel. Art direction is excellent. Sri’s background score is pretty good and he has delivered nicely. Editing is neat.
Chandrasekhar Yeleti has succeeded in delivering a technically superior adventure flick. Given the budget constraints, he has done a commendable job. He should have taken some care about the entertainment quotient in the film.
Verdict :
‘Sahasam’ is not your average Telugu cinema. The plot, the setting and the execution are very fresh and novel. Brilliant cinematography, nice action sequences and some thrilling moments are big assets for the movie. On the flip side, lack of traditional ‘commercial elements’ might hamper the film in B and C centers. You can safely watch ‘Sahasam’ for some desi ‘Indiana Jones’ moments.

Singam Telugu Movie Review

Tamil Hero Suriya has reprised the role of daring cop Narasimham in ‘Singam’. The movie is a sequel to the successful ‘Yamudu’ and it has released across the world today. Anushka and Hansika are the heroines in the film and Hari is the director. Let us see if Suriya’s power packed performance helps the film.
Story :
Narasimham (Suriya) goes undercover with the intention of tracking the illegal activities of some sea based gangs in Kakinada. He manages to convince everyone, including his parents, that he is no longer a cop and joins a school as an NCC officer. He starts a covert surveillance program on the activities of dreaded smuggler Bhai (Mukesh Rishi) and uncovers the secrets of their operation.
Meanwhile, Sathya (Hansika) is a student in the same school and she falls in love with Narasimham. She also happens to be the niece of Thyagaraju (Rahman), a rich businessman who heads the Golden Shipping company. Thyagaraju and Bhai come across as enemies.
Once Narasimham has the necessary evidence on hand to round up the gang, he comes out of his cover identity and assumes charge as a DSP. He starts rounding up the gang members and comes to know about the ruthless international drug kingpin Danny (African Actor). Narasimham also discovers some truths about Bhai and Thyagaraju.
Will Narasimham be able to stop Danny and his drug operation? What does he lose in the process? That forms the rest of the story.
Plus Points :
Suriya has delivered a solid and power packed performance as a tough and honest cop. He has done complete justice to the role and viewers will be able to feel the intensity of his performance. He looks quite handsome as always. Anushka looks glamorous. Hansika is ok.
Vijaykumar has given a neat performance as the Home Minister. Santhanam entertains to a certain extent with his one liners. Vivek brings about a few laughs as inspector Jamadagni.
There are some highly emotional and intense sequences in the film. The pace of narration picks up dramatically after Suriya takes charge as a cop and the powerful one liners will entertain crowds in B and C centers.
Some of the fight sequences are good. A few car chase sequences have been shot well. The production team took care about certain aspects to give the film a local touch. For example, the cars and bikes have Andhra Pradesh number plates instead of Tamil Nadu plates.
Minus Points :
‘Yamudu’ worked well because it had an emotionally involving story line. With ‘Singam’, everything is quite superficial and the police drama is also a little one sided. Anushka has absolutely nothing to do in the film. She just comes in during songs.
The game of one-upmanship between Suriya and Prakash Raj in ‘Yamudu’ is what made that film quite entertaining. While Rahman, Mukesh Rishi and the African actor have given decent performances, they do not offer any significant resistance to Suriya.
The film is very long and viewers may start getting restless towards the climax. Some scenes are unnecessarily dragged out. Also, there are too many fights and chases in the film.
The film is very loud, in typical Tamil style.
Technical Aspects :
Cinematography is ok. Songs have been shot colourfully. Screenplay is quite good in the first half, but it could have been better in the closing stages of the movie. The editor should have cut out the slack in the second half. Devi Sri Prasad’s background score is decent.
One can see Hari’s trademark style when it comes to direction. He has succeeded in getting the intensity and the emotions right. But he should have left out some unnecessary details.
Verdict :
‘Singam’ is an intense and loud cop drama. Suriya has delivered a superb performance and there are some very good moments in the film. However, the very long runtime of the movie, a story that is superficial and too many fights bring down the overall viewing experience a bit. You may give this film a shot, but don’t go in with high expectations.

RGV's Psycho Movie Review

Maverick movie maker Ram Gopal Varma has provided the script and screenplay for a new movie titled ‘Psycho’. The movie is releasing today in Andhra Prasesh. We were invited to a special premiere of the film two days ago. So let us see how this movie is.
Story :
Meera(Nisha Kothari) is an independent and hard working young woman. She is the sole bread winner for her family. Her simple life takes an unexpected twist when a tall, well built and well groomed stranger walks into her life. At first, the meetings are simple and harmless. Meera treats him as a minor nuisance and nothing else.
But things start getting ugly very soon. The stranger starts stalking Meera obsessively and begins to disturb her life. Violent physical confrontations follow and Meera runs to the cops for help. But she finds no real assistance from them.
She must now turn to her friends and family for support and protection. What happens in the end? Will the psycho spare Meera? That needs to be watched on the big screen.
Plus Points :
Nisha Kothari has portrayed the role of Meera in an acceptable way. The guy who has played the role of a psycho has done a very convincing job.
The short run time of the film is a big bonus. The theme selected by RGV has promise.
Minus :
The film is one big psychotic mess.’Rogue Methdology’ was received terribly by the general public when it was showcased in the film ‘Department’. But RGV and his proteges have not given up on this method yet. The end result is a splitting headache for viewers after 90 minutes. This rogue methodology is the single biggest reason for making ‘Psycho’ unwatchable.
After starting off in a convincing and realistic fashion, the movie loses its way and ends up being superficial, melodramatic and foolish.
The film will be quite tough for casual entertainment seekers to digest. Entertainment quotient is zero, as can be expected in films of this genre.
The confrontation scenes between Nisha and the Psychotic guy could have been a lot better. There is no emotional depth in these scenes.
Milind Gunaji is wasted in a poorly scripted cameo.
The movie’s climax is quite outlandish and bizarre.
Technical Aspects :
Camera angles are good but the quality of cinematography as a whole leaves a lot to be desired. Sound effects are neat. Editing is not upto the mark.
Kishore Bhargava’s direction is not upto the mark. His work leaves a lot to be desired.
Verdict :
RGV’s ‘Psycho’ lives up to its name. The movie is a big psychotic mess. The camera angles will leave you with a splitting headache. You can safely skip this film.

Action 3D Movie Update Review - First On Net

Comedy King Allari Naresh’s ‘Action 3D’ is all set for its grand release on the 21st. The movie has been premiered at Prasad Labs and we are bringing you this review after watching the special show. Anil Sunkara is the director and producer of this big budget extravaganza. Sneha Ullal and Neelam Upadhyay are the heroines in this movie. Kick Shyam, Vaibhav and Raju Sundaram are the other lead actors. Let us see how the movie is.
Story :
The film starts off with Posani Krishna Murali and Sunil. Posani is a film director and Sunil is the hero. This is a story that Sunil narrates to Posani.
Bava (Allari Naresh), Ajay (Kick Shyam), Shiva (Vaibhav) and Purush (Raju Sundaram) are thick friends. They grow up together and share everything in life. While Bava is an easy going person, Ajay and Shiva are seen as more mature and responsible people. Purush is a comical flirt. Ajay is all set to marry his sweetheart Shruthi (Sheena), so the four friends decide to celebrate the last few days of Ajay’s bachelorhood in Goa.
While travelling to the beach paradise, Bava comes across Geetha (Neelam) and instantly falls for her. He starts trying to woo her but is not too successful. Once they reach Goa, the four friends decid to get drunk and have fun. They wake up with a heavy Hangover and all hell breaks loose when they discover that a member is missing from their gang.
As the wedding date approaches, they desperately search for the missing guy. Will they succeed in their efforts? That forms the rest of the story.
Plus Points :
The film has really good 3D effects. There are a number of scenes where viewers will experience high quality 3D sequences and the entire team must be appreciated for having the courage and the conviction to attempt this film.
Allari Naresh is really good in the lead role. He has tried his best to make the comedy work. Kick Shyam and Vaibhav are ok. Raju Sundaram brings a few laughs with his antics and punches. Sudeep is brilliant in a cameo appearance. Sneha Ullal has come up with a very glamorous performance in the film. Neelam Upadhyay is neat and effective.
Brahmanamdam is ok as Magnet Mama. M.S.Narayana entertains with spoofs on Mahesh Babu, Pawan Kalyan and Siddharth. Master Bharath has done a decent job.
Songs have been shot well. ‘Ding Dong Bell’ and ‘Swathy Muthyapu Jallulalo’ have excellent visuals.
Minus Points :
If you have seen ‘The Hangover’, you will know what will happen in most of the scenes.
The film keeps losing pace at times, especially during the forest episodes and the climax sequences. Some scenes should have been edited out to improve the overall experience.
Some of the comedy sequences appear a little outdated and cliched.
Technical Aspects :
The film’s cinematographer and stereographer need to be appreciated for doing a very fine job with the visuals. Editing could have been a lot better. Sunny’s background score is decent. Dialogues are ok in places but they are not too impressive.
Director Anil Sunkara has done a good job with the visuals and he has taken care of the technical aspects in a proficient manner. But the screenplay and scene development could have been better. Production values are rich.
Verdict :
Action has impressive 3D effects. The film has some good moments and very nice visuals. Allari Naresh, Raju Sundaram and Sneha Ullal are the positive aspects of the film. On the flip side, better screenplay and dialogues would have really helped the movie. Overall, Action 3D can be watched for the sincere effort that went in to the making of TFI’s first true 3D film.

Prema Katha Chitram Movie Review

Sudheer Babu, brother in law of Superstar Mahesh Babu, is trying his luck with ‘Prema Katha Chitram’. This is his second film and it has released across the world today. The movie’s script has been penned by Maruthi and he has also ‘supervised’ the direction of the film. Nandhita is the heroine of the movie. Let us see how this movie is
Story :
Sudheer (Sudheer Babu), Praveen (Praveen) and Nandhu (Nandhita) are three dejected and depressed youngsters. They are fed up with their lives and decide to commit suicide. The three of them travel to a remote farmhouse to spend the last moments of their life. On the way, they are joined by Giri (Giri).
As they settle down into the farmhouse and prepare themselves for their last moments. As you can expect, love blossoms between Sudher and Nandhu. But when they try to get close to each other, strange things start happening.
Sudheer and his friends realise that the farmhouse contains a dark secret. The place has a violent past. While investigating these incidents, Sudheer also realises that some of his friends have other motives.
What is the dark secret of that farmhouse? What happens to Sudheer and friends in the end? That is the story of ‘Prema Katha Chitram’.
Plus Points :
Sudheer Babu has done a very good job in this movie. He has succeeded in showcasing the emotions of fear and surprise effectively. There is a short dance sequence in the film, which gives us an idea about his dancing abilities.
Nandhita is the real star of the film. She is simply brilliant. There are certain sequences where she is required to exhibit dramatic changes in behaviour and she has excelled in those scenes. She also looks quite cute and vulnerable where required.
Pravin succeeds in making viewers laugh with his Godavari slang. Giri is simply brilliant in two sequences, where he interacts with the ‘supernatural force’. The ‘Draupadi Vastrapaharanam’ sequence has been shot hilariously.
The entertainment quotient in the film is very high. There is an intelligent mix of humour, horror and romance in the film and viewers will connect to all three emotions well. The film’s biggest USP is the hilarious and racy second half.
There are a few trademark double meaning dialogues from Maruthi, but they are limited and don’t give a vulagar feel. Re-recording is a big asset for the movie. Sound and camera angles have been used effectively.
Minus Points :
The movie starts off slowly and stumbles for the first 20 – 30 minutes. There are some needless sequences, like the MLA slapping scene etc. These scenes are quite irritating and should have been chopped off.
The climax fight could have been avoided as it really does not add much to the storyline. One gets the feeling that it was placed there on purpose, to prove that Sudheer can fight. Some cinematic liberties have also been taken.
Technical Aspects :
Cinematography of the film is good. For a horror/thriller film to work, sound and camera angles are crucial. Both departments have been handled well in PKC. Editing is neat. JB’s background score is good. Sound mixing is very effective.
Prabhakar Reddy might have been the director, but Maruthi’s stamp is very obvious. This movie will succeed in giving an image makeover to Maruthi.
Verdict :
Humour, Horror and Romance are base human emotions. When they are handled effectively, viewers will connect strongly to a story. The same is the case with ‘Prema Katha Chitram’. The entertaining and thrilling second half will make you happy. Don’t miss this flick.

Iddarammayilatho Movie Review

Stylish Star Allu Arjun’s ‘Iddarammayilatho’ is all set for its theatrical release on the 31st. The movie has been directed by Puri Jagan and Bandla Ganesh is the producer. Allu Arjun’s previous film, ‘Julayi’,was a big hit so there are high expectation on this movie. Devi Sri Prasad has composed the music. Let us see how ‘Iddarammayilatho’ is
Story :
Sanju Reddy (Allu Arjun) is the lead guitarist of a band (comprising of Srinivasa Reddy, Khayyum and two other women) which is based in Spain. Akanksha (Catherine Tresa) is the rich and pampered kid of a Union Minister ( Rao Ramesh ). She heads to Spain for her higher studies and moves into a lovely house. Here, she comes across a diary which has been left by the previous tenant. The diary belongs to Komali Sankarabharanam (Amala Paul) and it chronicles the warm love story between Komali and Sanju.
Akanksha instantly connects to the story and finds herself becoming very attached to the characters of Komali and Sanju. She comes across Sanju in real life and starts teasing him by passing off snippets from the diary as her own psychological predictions.
The story in the diary comes to an abrupt end and Akanksha confronts Sanju about the same. A tragic fact is then revealed by Sanju, a fact that shakes Akanksha to the core. She starts developing romantic feelings for Sanju and proposes to him. But the story takes yet another twist here.
What are the twists? Who is Sanju? Why did the story in the diary stop abruptly? To know that, watch ‘Iddarammayilatho’
Plus Points :
Allu Arjun is at his stylish best in the movie. His costumes are very nice and his overall look is quite sophisticated. His dance has a lot of grace. He has danced to medleys of Megastar Chiranjeevi’s hit songs and these bits will entertain fans. The movie has two nice action sequences and Allu Arjun has performed quite convincingly in those episodes.
Catherine Tresa looks drop dead gorgeous in this film. Her costumes and generous skin show will drive youngsters crazy. If she plays her cards right, she is here to stay as the next big female star. The romantic episodes involving Allu Arjun and Catherine have come out well. Amala Paul is ok in the role of a traditional Brahmin girl. She has given a convincing performance as a shy and timid girl.
The interval bang has been executed well and the story gains momentum here. ‘Run Run’, ‘Violin Song’ and ‘Top Lechipoddi’ have been shot nicely. The twist in the final stages of the film is nice and the story picks up good pace from that point onwards until the climax.
Minus Points :
The comedy episodes featuring Brahmanandam and Ali and are not very convincing. Brahmanandam will be seen as Phidel Brahma and Ali will be seen as a psychopath named Gudivada Krishna. Shawar Ali looks monotonous as an international Don. Subba Raju is wasted once again.
The pace of the movie is a little slow in the second half. The film picks up momentum only after the final twist is revealed. The placement of songs in the first half could have been better. Fans expect ‘special’ dance moves from Allu Arjun, but this film does not have any such steps.
Traditionally, a hero in a Puri Jagan film has an arrogant swagger about him. The character treatment will ensure a high entertainment quotient. But that is not the case with ‘Iddarammayilatho’. Heroism is sorely missing from Allu Arjun’s character in this movie.
Technical Aspects :
Locations in the film are quite nice. Amol Rathod’s cinematography is very good in a few scenes but it is surprisingly mediocre in some sequences. One gets the feeling that some of the visuals suffer from overexposure. Sekkhar’s editing is ok but a few scenes could have been trimmed in the second half. The bold one liners and punch dialogues that fans expect in a Puri Jagan film are very few in number. DSP’s background score is effective.
In terms of direction and character treatment, you will see a very different Puri Jagan in this movie. This Puri is more sober and mature. Is that a good thing for his fans? I am not very sure. Some people succeed most when they are bold and aggressive. Puri is one such guy.
Verdict :
‘Iddarammayilatho’ is a very stylish offering from Puri Jagan. Allu Arjun’s performance, Catherine’s glamour and the action sequences are assets for the film. Slow pace in the second half and the absence of traditional Puri Jagan elements like heroism and punch dialogues might hamper the overall experience.

Sukumarudu Movie Review

Dialogue King Sai Kumar’s son ‘Aadi’ is all set to hit the screens with ‘Sukumarudu’. The movie is releasing today across the world and it has Nisha Aggarwal as the female lead opposite Aadi. Superstar Krishna and veteran actress Sharada will be seen in crucial roles in this movie. G.Ashok has directed this film and Venugopal is the producer. Let us see how this movie is.
Story :
The story of this film is similar to the recently released ‘Greeku Veerudu’. A selfish NRI who does not care about his relatives back in India, suddenly decides to come and seek their blessings once property comes into the equation.
Sukumar (Aadi) is a selfish and extremely money minded young fellow who is very successful in life. He however needs some urgent cash to kickstart his dream project. At precisely this point, he comes to know that an inheritance worth 150Crores is waiting for him in his village.
He decides to travel to the village and meet his grandmother Vandanamma (Sharada), a slightly cranky old lady who is revered by the villagers. Sukumar tries to emotionally blackmail her for the property.
But his plans keep getting thwarted by history, his uncle Rao Ramesh and others. A romantic track with Sankari (Nisha Aggarwal) also comes in during this time.
Will Sukumar succeed in his plans or will his evil schemes be detected by the villagers? That forms the story.
Plus Points:
Superstar Krishna garu has a neat and dignified presence, even if it is only for a few minutes. Veteran actress Sharada has done a nice job.
Rao Ramesh has tried his best to make things interesting. Aadi is ok in the dances and fights department, but he needs to really improve fast in portraying emotions.
Minus Points :
Screenplay of this movie is terrible. There is no logical flow in the proceedings and the whole film has a very jerky feel to it. The director has attempted to tackle various themes in the film – father and son sentiment, grandmother and grandson sentiment, a clever NRI coming back to reform his village etc. The problem is, none of the themes have been tackled properly.
There are gaping loopholes in the plot and many sequences have absolutely no logic. There is excessive melodrama and needless over action in emotional scenes.
The film is way too long. At a few minutes less than 3 hours, the length becomes unbearable when there is basically no story to narrate.
The comedy tracks fail to work as the writing is cliched and very poor. Despite the presence of so many talented comedy actors, the loud sequences end up irritating viewers.
The romantic track between Aadi and Nisha Aggarwal is very superficial and incomplete. Their screen chemistry is not very good.
The placement of songs is very poor and they act as major speed breakers.
Technical Aspects:
Cinematography of the film is quite mediocre. Editing is atrocious and as I said before, the film has a very jerky feel to it. Dialogues are very average.
Ashok Kumar’s direction is quite poor and leaves a lot to be desired. Production values are mediocre.
Anoop Rubens has provided ok music but the background score is too loud, like the rest of the film.
Verdict:
Sukumarudu is a film that is painfully long and poorly made. You can safely avoid the film, unless you want to experience Sukumaramaina torture.

Tadakha Movie Latest Review – Mass Entertainer

Yuvasamrat Akkineni Naga Chaitanya and Sunil have teamed up for the mass entertainer ‘Tadakha’. The movie has been directed by Dolly and Bellamkonda Suresh is the producer. Thaman has composed the music. Tamanna and Andrea Jeremiah have essayed the lead roles opposite Chaitanya and Sunil. The movie has released today across the world, so let us see how it is.
Story :
Sivarama Krishna (Sunil) and Karthik (Naga Chaitanya) are brothers. Sivarama Krishna is a timid and sensitive guy while Karthik is a street smart guy who is tough and brave. Their father (Naga Babu) is a police officer and he expires while on the job. The Police Department offers this job to Sivarama Krishna and Karthik forces him to accept it.
As soon as a nervous Sivarama Krishna joins the force, he is forced to take on the evil Bagga (Ashutosh Rana). Bagga is a notorious criminal and smuggler who terrorises the city. With the help of Karthik, Sivarama Krishna deals a blow to Bagga’s operations. This infuriates the bad boy and he vows to take revenge on the brothers.
While this is on, Sivarama Krishna happens to get married to Nandu(Andrea Jeremiah). Pallavi (Tamanna) is her sister and she falls in love with Karthik. A romance blossoms between the two.
Bagga manages to deal a blow to the brothers and Sivarama Krishna is now forced to shed his timidity to transform himself into a tough cop. How does he do that? How does Karthik help his brother? Will they succeed in defeating Bagga? That forms the story
Plus Points :
Naga Chaitanya looks very stylish in the film. His new hairstyle suits him quite well. He has improved as an actor with this movie. Chaitanya has managed to do a good job in the fight sequences. Tamanna looks ultra hot in the ‘Maaraa Maaraa’ song and she shares great chemistry with Chaitanya. The romantic scenes involving these two have come out quite well.
Sunil is a major asset for the film. In the first half, he entertains with his comedy. After the transformation, he excels in the role of a police officer and he steals the show towards the end. Andrea Jeremiah looks ok but she does not have anything to do in this film.
Ashutosh Rana delivers a very convincing performance as the evil Bagga. Brahmanandam and Vennela Kishore entertain to a certain extent. Director Dolly has done a good job in terms of balancing both Chaitanya and Sunil. Heroism has been elevated well for both Chaitanya and Sunil. Raghu Babu, Rama Prabha and Jayaprakash Reddy are ok.
The film’s first half is very entertaining. There is good pace, solid emotional depth and some really well shot sequences. Comedy quotient has been maintained well throughout the film. The emotional bond between the brothers has been established well and that lays a solid foundation for the film’s climax.
Minus Points :
The pace of the film dips a bit in the second half. Poor placement of songs and mediocre music hamper the flow to a certain extent. Entertainment levels are not as high as in the first half.
There is virtually no romance between Sunil and Andrea and it would have been good to see some nice moments between the two. The transformation of Sunil from a timid guy into a tough cop is a little too cinematic.
There are too many fights in the film. One or two can easily be chopped off. There is a scene where Naga Chaitanya runs and overtakes a speeding train. This scene is a little too much, even for mass masala entertainers.
For those who have seen the original film ‘Vettai’, this movie will not be as engaging or entertaining.
Technical Aspects :
Cinematography of the film is decent. Editing is neat. Dialogues have been written well and they work effectively. Thaman’s background score is effective in some areas but it is a bit too loud in other places.
Dolly has done a neat job as a director. He has balanced Sunil and Chaitanya well.
Verdict :
‘Tadakha’ is a mass entertainer. The movie’s first half has good entertainment levels and moves along well. Chaitanya, Sunil and Tamanna have delivered good performances. A below par second half and some mediocre music bring down the overall experience. Overall, ‘Tadakha’ makes for a decent summer watch.
