Ishkq in Paris Movie Review

After months of postponement in the release of Preity Zinta’s first production venture, Ishkq In Paris will finally hits the theaters tomorrow. Directed by Prem Soni, the movie also stars newcomer and television star Rhehan Malliek in the lead role. After attending the special screening of the movie, we bring to you an exclusive review beforehand. Lets see how the film is.
Story:
Ishkq (Preity Zinta) and Akash (Rhehan Malliek) are two different individuals who meet each other in a train to Paris and end up spending the night together. While Akash is on a break from his mundane boring agent life, Ishkq is happy-go-lucky half French, half Indian girl who in an emotional mayhem after her father leaves her mother (Isabelle Adjani).
Their ‘Night free of guilt and baggage’ turns out to be the most memorable night of their lives. But as per their commitments, the two part ways without even knowing each others full name. Will they meet again? Where will their destiny take them? The answers to these questions form the rest of the story…
Positive Points:
Ishkq In Paris is the Hindi remake of the Hollywood flick, Before Sunrise but with a desi tadka added to it. Filmmaker Prem Soni manages to bring back the sweet romantic love story that has been long lost in Indian movies.
Speaking of performances, Preity makes a comeback with this movie in her own quirky self. Her talkative nature in real life is very aptly depicted on screen. Not to forget that she looks gorgeous. Rhehan on the other hand is a fresh addition to the film industry. Along with his acting, he also manages to bring a charm on the screen with his good looks.
Isabelle is an artist of poise and she has an on screen aura that is unmatchable. The actress is beautiful in every way. The movie is filed with romantic moments and Paris has been showcased wonderfully.
Negative Points:
Even when the first half of the film is a bit acceptable, the second half looses the flow and charisma. Prem Raj’s attempt feels more like an emotional turmoil than a love story. Every time Preity opens her mouth to speak about her so-called family troubles, the audiences keep loosing interest in the movie. Isabelle’s expressions in a few sequences are funny.
Even after being a 96 mins short journey, the love story stretches in the second half to an extent that feels like an epoch. Some of the sequences in the film are boring including the climax which is too joyful to digest.
Technical Aspects:
The music album of the film is refreshing, especially Kudiye Di Kurti, which features Salman Khan in the guest appearance. The song takes the viewers in high spirits and gives a break from the dull poignant uproar. While the first half depicts a love story of 30 something couple acting like teenagers, the second half is nothing more than a cheesy story about break-up, commitment and marriage.
The camerawork by Manush Nandan is A class, as he very aptly captures the romantic Paris streets and the astonishing Eiffel Tower. The screenplay is unpleasant while the direction lacks substance. Editing is decent and Dialogues are fine in the first half, but become tedious by the second.
Verdict:
On the whole, Ishkq In Paris is a tacky love story that feels and looks good only in parts. However, if you are a die-hard romantic and cannot afford to visit the city of romance, visit the movie theatres to take a journey through the beautiful city of Paris.

Fast & Furious 6 Review

Fast and Furious 6′ is the latest flick in the super hit ‘Fast and Furious’ franchise. The series is very popular in India and premiere shows were held today in many major towns, ahead of the film’s theatrical release on the 24th. The film has been directed by Justin Lin. Michelle Rodriguez makes a full fledged return to the series and the rest of the star cast is intact. Let us see how this movie is.
Story :
Toretto (Vin Diesel) and O’Connor (Paul Walker) lead a life of peace and happiness, after having retired from their notorious profession. Connor and Mia (Jordana Brewster) are blessed with a baby boy, much to the delight of the entire family.
But this happiness is short lived. DSS Agent Luke Hobbs (Dwayne Johnson) comes into their lives with some shocking news. Torretto’s girlfriend Letty (Michelle Rodriguez), who was presumed to be dead, is seen in some very bad company. She has become a part of a dangerous gang headed by Shaw (Luke Evans), a gang that is hell bent on creating a special weapon that can cripple an entire nation.
An emotionally upset Torretto must now stop Shaw and Letty from creating this weapon. He must also find about Letty’s mysterious comeback. What happened to her? Why did she turn? More importantly, does she still love Toretto?
That is what this movie is all about
Plus Points :
Vin Diesel, Paul Walker and Dwayne Johnson have delivered solid performances, as always. Vin Diesel has built up his physique and he looks quite menacing. Dwayne Johnson drew loud cheers from viewers whenever he bashed up bad guys.
Gina Carano and Michelle Rodriguez provide some brilliant entertainment in the film. They indulge in a very physical fist fight and this sequence has been shot quite well.
For car lovers, the movie is going to be a treat to watch. The Skylines, the Challengers, the Chargers – they are all there. The first half of the film is quite entertaining, with some nice humour and well choreographed chase sequences. Tyrese Gibson and Chris Bridges keep the humour alive throughout the film.
For an action flick, there is good emotional depth to the proceedings. The twist in closing stages of the film is good.
Minus Points :
The film’s climax sequence is quite a disappointment. The stunts are just way too unbelievable and downright foolish. For example, the runway in the climax sequence seems to have infinite length. Logic goes for a big toss in this film.
The second half does not have the same pace as that of the first half. Some of the stunt sequences in the second half are unnecessarily long.
Letty’s comeback has not been handled in a convincing way. I do not want to reveal the twists in the plot, but the reason given for the change in her behaviour is very cliched.
Technical Aspects :
Cinematography is good and Stephen Wendon has done an impressive job. Editing is neat. The VFX work is ok. Lucas Vidal’s background score is effective.
Justin Lin has done a good job in the first half. But one gets the impression that he got carried away in the second half.
Verdict :
Fast and Furious 6 is a decent time pass entertainer. Fast cars, beautiful women and nice action sequences – the film has them all. The first half is very good, but an almost ridiculous climax spoils the overall viewing experience a bit. Leave logic behind and you can have some fun.

Sukumarudu Movie Review

Dialogue King Sai Kumar’s son ‘Aadi’ is all set to hit the screens with ‘Sukumarudu’. The movie is releasing today across the world and it has Nisha Aggarwal as the female lead opposite Aadi. Superstar Krishna and veteran actress Sharada will be seen in crucial roles in this movie. G.Ashok has directed this film and Venugopal is the producer. Let us see how this movie is.
Story :
The story of this film is similar to the recently released ‘Greeku Veerudu’. A selfish NRI who does not care about his relatives back in India, suddenly decides to come and seek their blessings once property comes into the equation.
Sukumar (Aadi) is a selfish and extremely money minded young fellow who is very successful in life. He however needs some urgent cash to kickstart his dream project. At precisely this point, he comes to know that an inheritance worth 150Crores is waiting for him in his village.
He decides to travel to the village and meet his grandmother Vandanamma (Sharada), a slightly cranky old lady who is revered by the villagers. Sukumar tries to emotionally blackmail her for the property.
But his plans keep getting thwarted by history, his uncle Rao Ramesh and others. A romantic track with Sankari (Nisha Aggarwal) also comes in during this time.
Will Sukumar succeed in his plans or will his evil schemes be detected by the villagers? That forms the story.
Plus Points:
Superstar Krishna garu has a neat and dignified presence, even if it is only for a few minutes. Veteran actress Sharada has done a nice job.
Rao Ramesh has tried his best to make things interesting. Aadi is ok in the dances and fights department, but he needs to really improve fast in portraying emotions.
Minus Points :
Screenplay of this movie is terrible. There is no logical flow in the proceedings and the whole film has a very jerky feel to it. The director has attempted to tackle various themes in the film – father and son sentiment, grandmother and grandson sentiment, a clever NRI coming back to reform his village etc. The problem is, none of the themes have been tackled properly.
There are gaping loopholes in the plot and many sequences have absolutely no logic. There is excessive melodrama and needless over action in emotional scenes.
The film is way too long. At a few minutes less than 3 hours, the length becomes unbearable when there is basically no story to narrate.
The comedy tracks fail to work as the writing is cliched and very poor. Despite the presence of so many talented comedy actors, the loud sequences end up irritating viewers.
The romantic track between Aadi and Nisha Aggarwal is very superficial and incomplete. Their screen chemistry is not very good.
The placement of songs is very poor and they act as major speed breakers.
Technical Aspects:
Cinematography of the film is quite mediocre. Editing is atrocious and as I said before, the film has a very jerky feel to it. Dialogues are very average.
Ashok Kumar’s direction is quite poor and leaves a lot to be desired. Production values are mediocre.
Anoop Rubens has provided ok music but the background score is too loud, like the rest of the film.
Verdict:
Sukumarudu is a film that is painfully long and poorly made. You can safely avoid the film, unless you want to experience Sukumaramaina torture.

Tadakha Movie Latest Review – Mass Entertainer

Yuvasamrat Akkineni Naga Chaitanya and Sunil have teamed up for the mass entertainer ‘Tadakha’. The movie has been directed by Dolly and Bellamkonda Suresh is the producer. Thaman has composed the music. Tamanna and Andrea Jeremiah have essayed the lead roles opposite Chaitanya and Sunil. The movie has released today across the world, so let us see how it is.
Story :
Sivarama Krishna (Sunil) and Karthik (Naga Chaitanya) are brothers. Sivarama Krishna is a timid and sensitive guy while Karthik is a street smart guy who is tough and brave. Their father (Naga Babu) is a police officer and he expires while on the job. The Police Department offers this job to Sivarama Krishna and Karthik forces him to accept it.
As soon as a nervous Sivarama Krishna joins the force, he is forced to take on the evil Bagga (Ashutosh Rana). Bagga is a notorious criminal and smuggler who terrorises the city. With the help of Karthik, Sivarama Krishna deals a blow to Bagga’s operations. This infuriates the bad boy and he vows to take revenge on the brothers.
While this is on, Sivarama Krishna happens to get married to Nandu(Andrea Jeremiah). Pallavi (Tamanna) is her sister and she falls in love with Karthik. A romance blossoms between the two.
Bagga manages to deal a blow to the brothers and Sivarama Krishna is now forced to shed his timidity to transform himself into a tough cop. How does he do that? How does Karthik help his brother? Will they succeed in defeating Bagga? That forms the story
Plus Points :
Naga Chaitanya looks very stylish in the film. His new hairstyle suits him quite well. He has improved as an actor with this movie. Chaitanya has managed to do a good job in the fight sequences. Tamanna looks ultra hot in the ‘Maaraa Maaraa’ song and she shares great chemistry with Chaitanya. The romantic scenes involving these two have come out quite well.
Sunil is a major asset for the film. In the first half, he entertains with his comedy. After the transformation, he excels in the role of a police officer and he steals the show towards the end. Andrea Jeremiah looks ok but she does not have anything to do in this film.
Ashutosh Rana delivers a very convincing performance as the evil Bagga. Brahmanandam and Vennela Kishore entertain to a certain extent. Director Dolly has done a good job in terms of balancing both Chaitanya and Sunil. Heroism has been elevated well for both Chaitanya and Sunil. Raghu Babu, Rama Prabha and Jayaprakash Reddy are ok.
The film’s first half is very entertaining. There is good pace, solid emotional depth and some really well shot sequences. Comedy quotient has been maintained well throughout the film. The emotional bond between the brothers has been established well and that lays a solid foundation for the film’s climax.
Minus Points :
The pace of the film dips a bit in the second half. Poor placement of songs and mediocre music hamper the flow to a certain extent. Entertainment levels are not as high as in the first half.
There is virtually no romance between Sunil and Andrea and it would have been good to see some nice moments between the two. The transformation of Sunil from a timid guy into a tough cop is a little too cinematic.
There are too many fights in the film. One or two can easily be chopped off. There is a scene where Naga Chaitanya runs and overtakes a speeding train. This scene is a little too much, even for mass masala entertainers.
For those who have seen the original film ‘Vettai’, this movie will not be as engaging or entertaining.
Technical Aspects :
Cinematography of the film is decent. Editing is neat. Dialogues have been written well and they work effectively. Thaman’s background score is effective in some areas but it is a bit too loud in other places.
Dolly has done a neat job as a director. He has balanced Sunil and Chaitanya well.
Verdict :
‘Tadakha’ is a mass entertainer. The movie’s first half has good entertainment levels and moves along well. Chaitanya, Sunil and Tamanna have delivered good performances. A below par second half and some mediocre music bring down the overall experience. Overall, ‘Tadakha’ makes for a decent summer watch.
