An investigation by Sports Illustrated released on Monday night said that since 2002 at least 28 players of Ohio State football memories traded or sold.
Sources told the magazine that the players have been negotiating memorabilia, including items bearing the signature of former head coach Jim Tressel, and that at least in his second season at Ohio State.
Tressel resigned Monday morning amid an NCAA investigation into the coach's behavior.
The magazine reported that Tressel violated NCAA rules 10.1, unethical conduct, thrice. The first if not acted when he was notified in April 2010, about six players sell their items of interest for tattoos. The second was when he signed the standard form of compliance stated that he knew of violations. The third violation was in December when he was not coming to school officials about their knowledge of the investigation.
Robert Rose, who played defensive end Tressel told Sports Illustrated in the negotiations and "at least 20" from other team members shared memories for tattoos.
The investigation also revealed allegations that agents of the State of Ohio memorabilia market for marijuana.

Tressel is scheduled to appear in front of the NCAA on Aug. 12 to present its case.
